JDM professor launches podcast aimed at narrative journalism

JDM professor Matt Tullis has launched a podcast that features discussions with writers of narrative journalism, specifically focusing on stories that have garnered nationwide attention.

The podcast is called Gangrey: The Podcast, and plays off the popular journalism website, www.gangrey.com. So far, Tullis has released five episodes featuring writers from The New York Times Magazine, D Magazine, Texas Monthly and the Tampa Bay Times. A sixth episode will be released this week, featuring Jesse Lichtenstein, who most recently was published in Esquire.

The podcast has already developed a nationwide following. Combined, the five episodes have been downloaded more than 1,000 times. It is free and available for download on iTunes, through Stitcher Radio On Demand and on www.podomatic.com.

The most recent podcast featured Stephen Rodrick. He wrote The New York Times Magazine story "The Misfits," which was about the making of the movie "The Canyons," which starred Lindsay Lohan. You can listen to that episode here.

The podcast is produced in the studios of WRDL. Student Glenn Battishill and WRDL adviser Steve Suess assist with each podcast production.

Tullis also launched a website in conjunction with the podcast. It can be found at www.gangreythepodcast.com.

The Ashland University Public Relations department issued a press release about the show last week. You can read it here.
