Collegian is a finalist in ONA college newspaper competition

The Collegian is a five-time finalist in four categories in the Ohio Newspaper Association’s annual Collegiate Newspaper and Website Competition.

The Collegian has two of the three finalists in the In-Depth Reporting category. The stories selected as finalists were written by Chris Bils and Zack Lemon. Bils, who graduated in May and is now a reporter at the St. Joseph News Press in Missouri, wrote a story that looked at the cutting of the men’s soccer team. Lemon, a junior and now the managing editor of the newspaper, wrote a story controversial recommendations former President Frederick Finks made to the university's Board of Trustees.

The Collegian is also a finalist in News Coverage, Sports Coverage and Best Website.

The 1,500-circulation, weekly newspaper has won numerous awards in the ONA contest over the last few years, and has also been named the Best Non-Daily College Newspaper in Ohio by the Ohio Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
