Election 2024 is now underway
The Journalism and Digital Media department live multicast of the Election 2024 program is now underway. Check it out on AUTV or listen in at 88.9 WRDL radio. The program started at 9 pm and will continue beyond the midnight hour. 50 Digital Media Journalism and Digital Media Production majors are hard at work on this exciting telecast.
JDM ELECTION SHOW PROMO 2024
From 9 pm to 12 midnight on Tuesday November 5th, the Ashland University Journalism and Digital Media department will multicast live coverage of Election 2024. AUTV, with news anchors Katelyn Meeks and Madison Ferrell, The Collegian, with editors Lauren Gulden and Dashia Lania, and WRDL, with hosts Cade Cracas, Brynn Meisse and Aidan Haggard, will provide up-to-the-minute updates and commments. Additionally, the 9 pm to 10 pm hour will be seen nationally on Student News Live, a consortium of the top college media programs in the country.
More than 50 majors in the department will be working on this production. The program is produced by Professional Instructor Kelly Meyer, senior Ethan Jenkins and junior Lauren Gulden. Senior Stephen Struckmann and junior Joshua Bachinsky will serve as show directors while junior Joe Monteith and sophomore Miles Irvin will be the technical directors.

Freshman Digital Media Production major Bryce Gatten makes his television debut with this telecast of the AUTV Sports Break program.
Kelly Meyer joins JDM as Professional Instructor
Long time media professional Kelly Meyer is now a full-time Professional Instructor with the Journalism and Digital Media department. Meyer, who graduated from AU with a degree in Radio and Television Production, will serve as the Faculty Advisor for The Collegian this year. She worked as a news producer at television stations in Toledo, Salt Lake City and Cleveland. She also served as an adjunct instructor for JDM a few years ago. WRDL 2024-2025 Management Team
Ashland University's nationally-recognized, award-winning and student-led braodcast radio station 88.9 WRDL proudly announces its leadership team for the 2024-2025 academic year. Program Director Cade Cracas, News Director Brynn Meisse, Sports Director Ethan Jenkins, Production Director Joshua Spencer, Social Media/Promotions Director Payton Whaley, and Weather Director Josh Bachinsky. WRDL's Faculty Advisor and General Manager is Derek Wood.
The Collegian 2024-2025 Management Team
Ashland University's award-winning and student-led digital and print newspaper The Collegian announces its 2024-2025 editorial staff. Managing Editor Katelyn Meeks, News and Digital Editor Cade Cracas, Sports Editor Dashia Lanai, Features Editor Lauren Gulden, Design Editor Dana Krukovska, and Social Media Editor Nick Olquin. The faculty advisor for The Collegian is Kelly Meyer. The first issue of this year's paper is the Orientation Issue, which will be published and distributed on Friday August 23rd.
AUTV 2024-2025 Management Team
AUTV is Ashland University's nationally-recognized, award-winning and student-led television station. Known for its daily coverage of news and sports (News Break and Sports Break), weekly public affairs interview programs (Eagle's Eye and The Mainstreet Show), AU sports coaches' shows (The Doug Geiser Show and The Carrie Pickens Show) and the yearly live Election Night telecast, the station is proud to announce its 2024-2025 management board.

JDM alum Kellie Pleshinger lands at Vertigo Entertainment
Digital Media Production graduate Kellie Pleshinger is well on the way to an excellent careeer in film production. During her time at Ashland University, Kellie created a television series script and movie pilot as a component of her Honors' thesis. She also served as the Program Director for AUTV. Kellie recently graduated with an MFA in Film Production from Chapman University in Los Angeles. Her first job in the industry is with Vertigo Entertainment. Kellie serves as the assistant to the head of production with this rising movie company. Congratulations to Kellie!

JDM welcomes new Fall 2024 students
With Fall 2024 classes slated to start in under one month, the Journalism and Digital Media program prepares to add many promising majors. Sixteen students will meet on Sunday August 25th with JDM faculty and student leaders in a greeting and introductory session. Many of these students received the Dean's Scholarship in Journalism and Digital Media. 2024 JDM Digital Media Creation Camp
On Monday July 8th, nine participants gained valuable knowledge about media when they attended the first JDM Digital Media Creation Camp. The students ranged from 6th graders to incoming Ashland University freshmen. Led by instructors Derek Wood and John Skrada, camp attendees created both audio and video projects. Plans are underway, with the support from co-sponsor AU Admissions, to hold a second camp in Fall 2024.

From time to time it is good to catch up on the careers of the Ashland University Journalism and Digital Media graduates. Many of them are changing jobs and moving up in the media profession.
